Long time no post! Nothing too exciting going on, I've mostly been working lately. A lot. And when I'm not working, I'm just tired and sleep! I am really looking forward to a few days off over Xmas :D But work is going great, so I can't complain!
David is out of hospital and seems to be doing better. He has to do a week's work experience this month, and will be coming to my office. I am assigning him a small project and will teach him how to make a small website - probably using iWeb or something. But it will be nice to spend a few days with him now that he is better :)
Oh actually something exciting did happen. I got a spanking brand new AWESOME computer at work... a the new 27" imac!! My boss has been wanting to get me a mac for a while and also wanted a shiny computer for client presentations. It's the basic one (Core2Duo and not QuadCore) 3.06 GHz processor, 4Go RAM and a 1To hard drive, but it's really more than I need to work (basic macs are already WOAH machines. It also has the wireless keyboard and the new wireless magic mouse which is just so awesome. I love the feel of it (it's metal and glass - I think). It's just so nice to use and you can configure it nicely (scrolling is very intuitive with it). I am getting one for my iMac at home - and BTW my 24" now looks tiny compared to this one! lol. And best of all, the screen resolution is huge - 2560 x 1440. It really brings extra comfort when you use it, and it's much easier to display several windows/apps at one. *hugs shiny new computer*

Got back from Mississippi Thanksgiving on Friday evening, with a raging head cold that is only now in partial abeyance -- and tomorrow morning I leave for Mexico, to sing the praises of the books (with the help of a translator). So, between snorts of Afrin, I am doing laundry, packing and writing more book, with the goal of finishing one more chapter before I go. It's all a bit of a whirl, and not only because of the Afrin high. I intend to take a short break this afternoon for a mani-pedi, as I will be wearing open-toed shoes and do not want to appear in Spanish-language press as la escritora con miedo uñas largas, como el loco millonario Howard Hughes.
One troubling thing has cropped up the last two weeks: Quite suddenly, as in WHAM about two weeks ago, I began having serious forearm/hand trouble. At first I thought I'd injured myself (and am still open to this), because of the speed and severity of the symptoms (for about two days, I couldn't have carried a bag). It has improved since then, but I am still having nerve sensitivity and soreness. The natural first guess is carpal tunnel, but (a) does it really start like WHAM?, and (b) the internets inform me that carpal tunnel hits the wrist hardest, involves numbness and tingling, and mostly affects the median nerve. While the median nerve was highly sensitive at first, the largest difficulty I'm having is with the ulnar nerve. The main point of trouble seems to be the elbow, and while I have had no numbness or tingling, I am having sensitivity, soreness and occasional periods of too-low circulation, leading to cold hands. Any ideas? Anyone? As I just anted up for COBRA insurance (private insurers seem to take FOREVER to process you, jeez), I will be able to see a doctor about this, but not until after Mexico.

a. Today/tonight was my last day at work. I've been pretty much annoyed with the work, how tiring and irritating it was, and the only reason I stuck with it is because I was afraid hospitals abroad may not want to take me because I'm currently not employed when they see me. I'm still a bit scared. But I have gone on a "fuck it, let's see what happens" state ever since my plans have gone ridiculously awry.
Anyway, this has been something I've looked forward to, and now that I'm done it feels a bit...sad, somehow. I'm not going to m iss the work for sure, but I'm going to be missing the people. Like, terribly. And to think how I may not be able to maintain the bond (it's different when you see each other everyday) is just saddening.
b. But of course, before tonight I had to have gone out with my now ex-co-workers (hah) for drinks. Except I was more after the free food because someone else was paying for it. I'm a cheapskate. Hee. So I went, and it ended up with just me, a guy I'm absolutely fake friends with (he doesn't know), and an intern from last year who's moonlighting on a different hospital.
DEAR FREAKING LORD said intern hasn't changed at all. The intern from this entry who was all "let's go on a roadtrip?" at past 2 in the morning but really want a lay? Still the fucking same. OH MY GOD if I wasn't so sleepy and had all my emotions in a flat line I would've freaked out. We sat next to each other and he was all touchy-feely but I didn't mind because, hey, I thought we were friends. I don't find it all icky to be hugging my guy friends or linking arms or whatever, but apparently it was taken differently.
We were all off to get our asses home, but I wasrent bar just to say car and I dropped by a different bar just to say hi and greet a friend happy birthday. Three minutes tops, and I didn't have to park my car. I left it with the guys with the sole instruction of 'get it out of the way if someone tells you to' while I went to my friend. When I went back, crazy!intern was the only there, behind the wheel and I nearly got harassed three blocks away inside my own fucking car!
I am too trusting, clearly. IT WAS JUST INSANE, I still can't get over how disgusted I feel. Disgusted and amused, because wow, some guys don't ever change. I am so staying away from him the next time there's a group thing happening.
c. Did I mention I'm taking Spanish classes? I'm just on level one, but it is so giving me a headache. I mean, it's fine, but the teacher is just crazy and teaches unsystematically sometimes. Like, she got us started on a bajillion sentences and expressions without even teaching us how to construct one.
Now she listed more than 50 verbs that I have to memorize by Tuesday. UGH. I love learning, but the prospect of having to memorize again is making me go "uh, no." Heh.
d. It's 12:28 AM and I have to -- brush my teeth, wash my face, clean myself u then -- watch the latest Merlin (woo Arthur/Gwen!), and then see if I can manage to string together sentences and reply to threads. I am so sorry, Lena! ♥♥♥
[Deadcraft.Com]: Dragonball: Son Gohan Crochet Doll
A large 8 inches high Son Gohan doll that I had commissioned for a customer in the past, based on the character from the Dragonball series!
And of course, being the absolute masochist that I am, also agreed to do Son Gohan's more complicated Chineseque suit instead of his regular martial arts garb. And let's not forget the monkey tail!

An observation: since starting work again I’ve realized I’d lost a few pounds. This is evidenced by the fact that I, unused to wearing belts, now have to pull up my pants every ten minutes or so out of social decorum, as opposed to just pulling them up to annoy people with a lovely view of my butt-crack.
I have always had trouble with pants. They’re either missing, too tight as to restrict the blood circulation in my lower body, or too loose that my nether regions experience the occasional draft. I tend to wear skirts or long dresses more often in my leisure, but pants are a must in the workplace. Wearing a dress to one’s job gives people the wrong impression that I care about things and stuff.
The weight loss is nice, though, and beats going to the gym.

Due to the rising costs of cable thanks to the money-hungry people over at the Sky Cable network, it was decided that acquiring a Sky Digibox would actually prove more cost-effective to the household income than not, in the long run. Since my usual contribution towards balancing the budget as a kid usually involved not bathing for a week to save on water costs, I had little idea of what constituted financial savings when it came to maintaining a house, so I just nodded my head and agreed that maybe this would be best.

So much packing and work to do before I leave for home tomorrow! I did take half an hour to get a manicure, reasoning that my mom will freak out so much about my short hair that some other evidence of femininity might help to soothe her.
